Aaron Hernandez was taken into custody, cut by the Patriots and charged with the murder of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd on Wednesday, but now is also being investigated as the possible gunman in a 2012 Boston double homicide.

Hernandez, 23, was taken from his North Attleborough home in handcuffs just over a week after Boston semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd’s dead body was discovered in an industrial park a mile away. Within hours of the arrest, the Patriots announced they had cut the 2011 Pro Bowl selection who had signed a five-year $40 million contract just last summer. Hernandez was charged with murder and five gun-related offenses in Attleboro District Court in Massachusetts.

Hernandez “drove the victim to the remote spot, and then he orchestrated his execution,” prosecutor Bill McCauley said. Authorities say Lloyd was shot multiple times on a gravel road, three times as he attempted to avoid the shots, and then two times in the back. If convicted, the former Patriots tight end faces life in prison without parole.

Hernandez was apparently the Megamind that orchestrated Lloyd’s killing on June 17, which involved texts, rented cars, blunts, Cotton Candy Bubblicious gum, guns, and deleted surveillance film.

Authorities now say that Hernandez is also being investigated as the possible gunman in an unsolved double homicide in Boston in 2012. It looks like Hernandez might have been the gunman who killed Daniel Abreu, 29, and Safiro Furtado, 28, in Boston last year one week before Hernandez reported to the New England Patriot’s 2012 training camp.
Maybe taking hits on the football field does affect judgement after all.
